Woodham Mortimer Ride Report

July 27, 2014

Thirteen riders met up at Colchester Leisure World. This seems to be the magical number to turn up for most rides these days!

The elevenses break was at Perrywood Garden Centre in Tiptree where we met with 6 riders from Tiptree, Kelvedon, and Marks Tey.

Leaving Perrywood Garden Centre

One rider returned to Colchester after elevenses, leaving a group of eighteen to ride on to the inter-section Essex CTC meet at The Hurdlemakers Arms in Woodham Mortimer. On route we stopped off for a photo shoot by the wooden viaduct on the Blackwater Rail Trail at Wickham Bishops.

At lunch it was good meeting up with the other Essex CTC Member Groups.

On the route back to Colchester we passed through Beeleigh Falls before heading back through Heybridge, Little Totham, Tiptree, Messing, and Copford.

At Beeleigh Falls

By Copford it did not go unnoticed that some riders had enough of my (these days) slowish pace and carried on at their own pace back to Colchester. Many thanks to those who stayed with me.

The ride in numbers:

  • Distance: 53.9 miles
  • Avg speed: 10.2 mph
  • Avg pulse: 119 bpm
  • Max pulse: 152 bpm
  • Temperature on return: 71.7 °F
