Great Bardfield Ride Report

July 28, 2013

The ride to The Blue Egg at Great Bardfield with elevenses at Greenstead Green Farm Shop, saw eight riders leaving Colchester Leisure World. We rode out by way of West Bergholt, Fordham, Wakes Colne, Colne Engaine. One turned back for Colchester at the point of arriving at the farm shop. At the elevenses stop we met up with Les and Gill from Tiptree with their tandem. Also with tandems were Alan and Wendy, and Gavin and Tracy. Also meeting us there was Sarah and Mary. Mary would leave us shortly after leaving elevenses.

We were by now 14 riders (22 wheels). We rode out to the Blue Egg via Bocking, Panfield, and Jaspers Green. The Blue Egg stop was a first visit for the Colchester group. The ride back via Blackmore End saw us tree hopping to try and keep dry from showers. The three tandems left us just after Gosfield to head for the Stisted Specialities Tea Room. The rest of us, seven riders rode straight back to Colchester.
